Rita Lynette Edwards Sharp, 60, died suddenly Sat. , April 5, 2014 at North Miss. Medical Center in Tupelo after a sudden illness. Known by many as "Rat", she was born in Le Panto, Arkansas on Oct 23, 1953 to George Lee and Jimmy Lee Lamb Edwards. She lived much of her adult life in the Okolona area where she was deli manager for Public's Grocery. She never met a stranger, was an outgoing, outspoken personality and approached life each day with energy and excitement. Laughter was her trademark and fellowship her way of life. A Baptist, she loved all animals and was particularly fond of her two dogs, Sock a Doodle and Peanuts.
Survivors include her sons: Adam Johnson (Vickie) of Okolona and Aaron Sharp of Tennessee; a daughter: Andrea Sharp of Tennessee; 2 grandchildren: Blake Johnson of Clarksville, Tn. and Olivia Sharp of Tennessee; her caregivers, Sandy Stovall and friend; 3 brothers: George Edwards (Lydia) of Hurley, Miss, James Edwards of Okolona and Jessie Edwards of Booneville; 3 sisters: Corrine Haskett of Wren, Joyce Haney of Golden Living Center in Amory and Brenda Melton of Okolona; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents and a niece, Monica Edwards Cross.
Pallbearers will be George, Paul, Mike, Bruce, Scott, Jessie and Jed Riley Edwards, Rickey Story, Dylan Tackett and Doug Kimble. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Moore, Dot Kimble, DeVan Hanna, Spencer Griffin and Boyd Houston and Stephen Colbert.
