Leonard Garnett (L.G.) Fowler, 94, died Friday, April 4, 2014 in his residence under the care of Gentiva Hospice.

Mr. Fowler was born in Arnoldsville, GA February 1, 1920. He moved with his family to Winter Haven, FL in 1932 where he lived for 79 years until health problems forced his moving to Brooklet, GA in 2011. He was retired from the Polk County School Board in Winter Haven and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Leefield Baptist Church.

Mr. Fowler was the last surviving child of Winslow Norman and Bonnie Mae Fields Fowler. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Edna (Thedric) Sorrow; Vera (Frank) Green; Grace (Horace) Sledge; Louise (Bob) Parks and Maxine (John) Headley and his brothers, Ernest (Ruby) Fowler; Walt (Mary) Fowler and C. T. (Mary) Fowler.

Mr. Fowler is survived by his wife of 69 years, Sarah Hagan Fowler of Brooklet; children, Janice (Gerald) Jones of Brooklet; Sandra (Charles) Lancaster of Ellabell and Richard (Janice Sue) Fowler of Wildwood, FL; grandchildren, Dean (Sandy) Jones of Brooklet; Debbie (Mike) Marotte of Brooklet; Alan (Stacey) Fowler of Wildwood, FL; Angela Ross of Lady Lake, FL; Scott (Angie) Lancaster, John (Angel) Lancaster, and Michael (Stacy) Lancaster all of Ellabell; 14 great-granchildren and 1 great-great granchild. His family was Mr. Fowler's great pride and his face would light up when any of them came to see him, especially the young children.

The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 PM Sunday, April 6 in Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, April 7, in the Chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home with Elder Daniel Strickland and Pastor Dan Bryant officiating. Burial will be in Corinth-Leefield Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

The family would like to thank Gentiva Home Health and Gentiva Hospice for all their support and help in his final months.
