John's parents were William and Mary Hosford.

John and Naomi Loomis Hosford only had the following 4 children:

John served during the Revolutionary War and served as a private in Captain Buel's Company militia. He was wounded in August 1776 at Harlem Heights, New York in his fourth finger of his left hand by a shot which broke the bone. According to his military records, his hand was totally useless for a long time and continued to be quite lame up until at least April 25, 1794. He received an invalid pension from September 4, 1794 until the time of his death.
