Mr. Brian Eugene Dawson, age 60, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2014, at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, with his loving family at his side.

Brian was born May 22, 1953, in Shelby, MI, to Robert Dawson and Zella Wade.

He grew up in Ferry, MI, being raised by his loving grandmother, Louise Dawson.

On October 26, 1974, he married the former Patti Ann Seaver in Whitehall.

Brian was head of Parks and Cemetery for the City of Montague for close to 20 years in which he took pride in keeping the city beautiful. Brian was passionate about his first car, a 1968 Shelby Ford Mustang GT 350. He also enjoyed running and traveling with the family. Most of all, he enjoyed the time spent with his family, especially the grandchildren.

He is survived by Patti, wife of 39 years, and children, Chris (Beth) Dawson, Staci (Mark) Walters, and Matt (Melody) Dawson; 7 grandchildren, Logan, Grace, Eva, Bryson, Hannah, Brynn and a granddaughter on the way.

Brian was preceded in death by his grandmother, father, his sister Suzanne Roth and his father-in-law Herb Seaver.

VISITATION will be held Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at The Lee Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St 231-798-1100 From 2-4pm and 6-8pm. A PRIVATE GRAVESIDE SERVICE will be held at Montague Oak Grove Cemetery.
