Funeral services for John Joseph (Jack) Hansen, 69, who died Monday at the Hawarden hospital where her was taken Sunday, having been ill at his home for many years, were held at 2 o'clock Wednesday at the Barnard Funeral home, Rev. Oliver Everson, pastor of the American Lutheran church, officiating.
Interment was at Grace Hill cemetery under the direction of the Barnard Funeral home.
Hal Shoemaker was the soloist with Mrs. Shoemaker at the organ. Casket bearers were Wayne Olson, Herman Utech, Emil Schoenrock, George Busch, Clarence Olson and Joe Schiefen.
Mr. Hansen was born August 7, 1893, at Struble, Iowa. He began work at an early age in a hardware store in Ireton.
He married Elizabeth Kienietz in the American Reformed church at Sibley October 11, 1911. The couple resided at Ireton three years after which they moved to Merrill where he operated a tin shop.
They spent some time in Minnesota and quite a number of years in Le Mars before moving to Hawarden over 30 years ago. Here he was employed as a plumber until his illness 17 years ago.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
Survivors include the widow; a son, Floyd, of Hawarden; a daughter, Erma, Mrs. Clarence Olson of Sioux City; three grandchildren, including Mrs. Quenton Newman who with her daughter, Bambi Lynn, is in France where her husband is serving overseas, and five great grandchildren.
