PAYNE, MATTHEW JAMES ALVERSON born January 21, 1979, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 26, 2011. His parents thank God for sharing him with them these thirty-two years, and we thank Him for bringing Him home to that place He has prepared for him. He is survived by his parents, Clifton H. Payne, Jr. and Melanie McNutt Payne of Moody, AL and his brother, Dr. Mark Joshua Payne of Phoenix, AZ. He is the Grandson of the late Ruth Alverson McNutt and Hershell McNutt, Sr. of Birmingham, AL and the late Clifton H. Payne, Sr., and Mollie K. Payne of Weaver, AL. He had a love for people unparalleled, and let the light of Christ shine through him where ever he was. His life was a testimony to the goodness of our God. Whatever he set his hand to do, he did it as unto the Lord. He touched the lives of many, some of whom were considered untouchable, to know him was to love him, he was a bright spot in a dark world. We will all miss him more than words can express. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his honor to his church, The Guiding Light Church, 1800 John Rogers Drive, Birmingham, AL 35210. The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Friday, September 2, 2011 at Kilgroe Funeral Home in Leeds.
