LAKE MARY, Fla. — Graveside services for Jacqueline Ilean Smith-Dodd, 85, of Lake Mary, formerly of Davenport, will be at 3 p.m. Friday, April 11, in the mausoleum at Davenport Memorial Park. Shortly after suffering a stroke, Mrs. Smith-Dodd passed away on Monday, March 17, 2014, at a hospice in Lake Mary.

Jacqueline was born in Rock Island, on March 1, 1929, the daughter of Theodore and Verlea (Love) Abramson. In 1947, she graduated from Rock Island High School. Then on Aug. 3, 1947, she married Harley Gyle Smith. During their 27 years together, they lived in Rock Island, Orlando, Fla., and Davenport. He preceded her in death in June 1974. Surviving them are their sons, David (Marya) Smith, of Hudson, Wis., Larry (Julie), of Lake Mary, and Ronnie (Gwen) of Davenport; eight grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Jacqueline was later united in marriage to Everette Dodd on July 15, 1983. They lived in Davenport during their 26 years together. He also preceded her in death in 2009. Surviving them are her stepsons, David (Janice) Dodd, of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Darryl (Andrea) Dodd, of Tiffin, Iowa; her stepdaughters, Debbie (Bob) Mendoza, of Davenport, Laurie Sanford, of Waterloo, Iowa, and Merri Camacho of Lawrenceville, Ga.; 13 step-grandchildren; and 10 step-great-grandchildren.

Jacqueline moved to Florida in November 2013. She was active during the few months there, which fulfilled a dream she had for many years.

Jacqueline was always a very loving and giving wife, mom, grandma and great-grandma. She also had a beautiful, giving heart to help others in her neighborhood, church family, and wherever she saw a need that she could supply. Having received Jesus as her Lord and Savior in 1974, she placed Him first in her life and then lived to serve her family and others. She also enjoyed traveling in her RV and doing many different crafts. She was an active member of Westside Assembly of God in Davenport until her recent move to Florida.

These are her own words in her last will and testament: "Please trust the Lord as He will not let you down. The only thing you have to do is ask Him and He will guide you to a much better life and make it have more understanding and joy."
