Webster. B. Goddard, 79, a resident of this community 52 years died Sunday in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Virgil Williams, following a lingering illness.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon in the Associated church with Rev. John C. Thorns, officiating. Mrs. Ralph Gregg, jr., the soloist, sang "In the Garden" and "The Lord's Prayer," with Mrs. Hal Shoemaker as accompanist. Burial was in Grace Hill cemetery under the direction of the Barnard Funeral home.

Mr. Goddard was born near Marietta, Ohio, April 12, 1874. He was the eleventh and youngest child of Charles and Melissa Goddard. All of his brothers and sisters preceded him in death. Mr. Goddard attended school at Bartlett, Ohio.

On February 26, 1898, he married Miss Margaret Smith at Bartlett. Two children were born to this union, Dorothy and Charles. The son died in infancy. In 1948 Mr. and Mrs. Goddard celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

In 1902, he moved with his family onto a farm near Hawarden. He lived there until 15 years ago when he moved to Hawarden.

He was a member of the Universalist church, which was located near his father's farm.

He is survived by the widow, Margaret; a daughter, Mrs. Virgil Williams of Hawarden; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
