US Congressman. Born in East Granby, Connecticut, at an early age and went to live with his grandparents in Portage, Ohio. He attended Western University, studied law, was admitted to the bar and commenced to practice law in Kittanning, Pennsylvania, in 1835. He was a member of the board of trustees of Kittanning Academy and a member of the Kittanning town council, (1841-61). During the Civil War, he served as a Major in the 22nd Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Militia. After the war, he was a member of the Pennsylvania State House of Representatives in 1865. In 1869, he was elected as a Republican to the Forty-first Congress, serving until 1871. He died at age 72 in Kittanning, Pennsylvania.
