Mr. Bessert had grieved the death of Mrs. Bessert and failed rapidly in the last days.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Bessert home and at 2 o'clock at the St. John-Jacobi Lutheran church in the village, the Rev. Harold Eckert officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Bessert was born in Germany in 1864 and accompanied his parents to this country. The family located in Rockland. In 1902 Mr. Bessert married Alvina Haese of Reedsville and they settled on a farm in Rockland. After operating the farm 24 years Mr. Bessert disposed of it and purchased a home in Reedsville.
He served as assessor of Rockland 14 years and was town treasurer three years. He was a director of the Rockland Fire Insurance company three years and secretary for eight years. He was a lifelong member of the Evangelical Lutheran church in Reedsville and a member of the board of trustees for six years.
Survivors are a son, Harry, who resides on the homestead farm near Reedsville; seven daughters, Mrs. Hugo Umnus, Mrs. Elmer Behnke and Mrs. O.E. Hartwig of this city, Mrs. Willard Lockbaum and Mrs. Harold Odegard of Menasha, Mrs. E.E. Erdman of Menominee, Mich., Mrs. H.H. Koerwitz of Neenah; sister, Mrs. Augusta Noble of this city; brother, Ferdinand of Reedsville; and 14 grandchildren.
The body may be viewed at the Bessert home in Reedsville.
