Pulitzer Prize Winning Photojournalist. While working for the Associated Press, she shared the Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News Photography in 2004 during the Iraq War. She began her association with Journalism during her high school years, as she was a freelance photographer for an area newspaper. She studied German Literature, Philosophy and Journalism while attending college in Gottingen. Her break came in 1990, when she covered the historic falling of the Berlin Wall and from there, she went on to land an assignment with the European Pressphoto Agency, which involved covering the war in the former Yugoslavia. She was shot to death while assigned in Afghanistan. Prior to her death, she was wounded numerous times during the course of her more-than twenty-year career.
