Thomas Carlton, born ca. 1799; died December 1841 in Lowndes County (now Brooks), Georgia; married (1)in 1820 Nancy Ward; (2)April 16, 1841 Lucretia Steward

He was the son of John and Nancy Ann (Alderman) Carlton.

Thomas Carlton was born in Duplin County, NC, but moved to South Georgia perhaps about the time that his father died around 1821. He must have lived in Florida for a while as he was a Methodist minister and a member of the Florida Conference, as well as the South Georgia Conference. His wife, Nancy, born in 1802, was a daughter of William Ward of Duplin County, NC. After her death in 1840, Thomas married Miss Lucretia Steward but there was no issue. He died in Lowndes (now Brooks) County, Georgia. It is said that his son John died without issue.
