Henry Ellis Perrou, 88, of Emerald Isle, formerly of Valdese, passed away unexpectedly Thursday April 3, 2014 at his residence.

Mr. Perrou was born on November 8, 1925 in Burke County to the late Henry Phillip Perrou and Dora Zimmerman Perrou.

He was a United States Army Veteran Serving during World War II, and retired from JP Stevens as a shipping supervisor. He was a member of Waldensian Presbyterian Church, where he was a Deacon, Elder, the past head of the Cemetery Committee, and numerous other committees of the church. Henry was also a member of American Legion Post 234 for over 60 years, and was the past Vice-President and President of the LPDA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Lail Perrou; two sisters, Irene Powell and Betty Causby and son-in-law Jerry Burgin Sr.

Survivors include his daughters, Phyllis Burgin of Emerald Isle, NC and Miriam Jolly and husband Robert of Hickory; one brother, Harold Perrou and wife Kaye of Valdese; a special friend, Faye Broome of Granite Falls; a sister-in-law, Mary Rhoney and husband Bob of Valdese, brother-in-law Charles Causby of Valdese, and sister-in-law, Faye Lail of Roanoke Rapids, NC; grandchildren Jerry Burgin Jr., Madeline Benfield, Amy Melton, Lauren Jolly, Ashley Jolly; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Monday April 7, 2014 at Waldensian Presbyterian Church, officiating Rev. Kevin Frederick and Rev. Feild Russell. Interment will follow in Waldensian Presbyterian Church Cemetery with military honors by the N.C. National Guard and the Caldwell County Honor Guard.
