Wife of George W. Howe

SWAMPSCOTT - Ruth (Searles) Howe of 44 Beach Bluff Ave., died suddenly in Lynn Hospital Friday after she was stricken at her home.

She was the wife of George W. Howe, was born in Salem and had lived in Swampscott for the past 35 years.

She was a graduate of Salem High School, Vassar College and did graduate work at Harvard and Simmons Colleges. She was a charter member and past president of the Farm and Garden Club of Swampscott; president of the Swampscott Garden Club; regional vice president of the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts; former president of the Junior Aid Society of Lynn, and former president of the North Shore Vassar Club.

Surviving her, in addition to her husband, are 2 sons, Stephen W. Howe of Marblehead, and Leland B. Howe of Swampscott; and 7 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in St. Michael's Church, Marblehead.
