MUNCIE-Sheila M. (Ramsey) Carpenter, 59, departed this life for the next on Thursday evening, April 3, 2014, at the Indiana University Ball Memorial Hospital with her loving family by her side.

Sheila was born in Muncie on November 30, 1954, the daughter of Ernest and Anna Mae (Silvey) Ramsey. She was a 1973 graduate of Wes-Del High School and a 1977 graduate of Anderson University. Ms. Carpenter was employed for many years in both the home furnishing and women's fashion clothing industries. Most recently, with the Dillman Furniture Store in Muncie. She had been a long time member of the Bethany Christian Church in Anderson. Sheila enjoyed reading and was involved with the Ball State Pageant and Booster Club.

Sheila leaves behind a host of family and friends. Survivors include two sons, Nat Carpenter and Ross Carpenter (wife-Meredith), both of Muncie; one sister and best friend, Sharon Van Tassel (husband-Clark), Muncie; one sister-in-law, Lillie Ramsey, Eaton; an adored grandson, Corbin Carpenter; several nephews including, Brian Ramsey (wife-Tammy),Tony Van Tassel (wife-Tessa),Andy Van Tassel (wife-Krista); one very much loved great niece, Emily Kay Van Tassel; a good friend and former husband, Michael Carpenter, Muncie.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim and John Ramsey and also her beloved pet dog, Tyson.
