Steve was born October 31, 1960, to Jimmie and Wanda (Beasley) Vaughn in Seminole, Texas. Following his father's footsteps, Steve began working in the oilfield on a drilling rig at the age of 18 and was employed the last 22 years as pumper. He loved his career in the oilfield as a pumper and could fix anything. He enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting and especially trips to Yellowstone National Park. Cooking out along with watching OU football were included in his favorite past times. He would do anything for anybody, but did not sugarcoat anything. He loved kids and especially animals, with which he held a special connection. He had an inherent sense of humor – which may have been crude at times, but it was endearing.
Steve was preceded in death by his father and one sister, Melinda Schopplein.
He is survived by his mother, Wanda Vaughn, Edmond; wife, Tina Shannon; daughters, Leah Vaughn, Oklahoma City; Stormy Vaughn, Edmond, and Ashley Shannon; one son Dusty Shannon; sisters, Sue Willingham and husband Jim of Oklahoma City; and Rhonda Sigl and husband Larry of Kingfisher, and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to: Edmond FFA, 300 N. Kelly, Edmond, OK 73034 or Oklahoma County 4-H, 930 N. Portland, Oklahoma City, OK 73107.
