Dr. Cobb was Superintendent of The Orphans Home near the city of Goldsboro in Wayne County at the time. They had four sons with only one living to adulthood, and one daughter, Annie Roslyn Whitfield born 25 Aug 1891, in Lenoir County, North Carolina. Sadly, two other sons did not survive infancy; they were James Watson Whitfield born in 1888, and William Watson Whitfield born 7 Dec 1888 and died in July of 1889.
