Eddie Martin Knutson, son of Jacob S. and Kari Johnson Knutson, was born Aug. 23, 1889, in Marshall Township, Adams.
He was baptized at Little Cedar Lutheran Church, Adams, and confirmed there May 22, 1904.
On Sept. 6, 1920, Mr. Knutson was united in marriage to Ella Henrietta Ulven by the Rev. O. C. Brenna. They established their home at Rake, Iowa. To this union three sons were born. In 1934, they moved to Adams and five years later, to Austin.
Mr. Knutson enjoyed fine health until Nov. 20, when he was taken to St. Olaf Hospital for treatment of a heart condition. He seemed to be responding and was allowed to return home Nov. 29, where he continued to improve. He quickly and quietly went to meet his Saviour, Dec. 27, at the age of 69 years, 4 months, 4 days.
In the early years of his marriage, he was employed as assistant cashier in the State Savings Bank, Rake. The last years he had been in the income tax service. Preceding him in death were his parents, three sisters, four brothers.
Mr. Knutson was a faithful member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church. Prior to this, he had belonged to Little Cedar Lutheran Church, Adams, and Zion Lutheran, Rake.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Ella; three sons, Willard of Dallas, Texas, and Allen and Vance of Austin; three daughters-in-law, Barbara, Phyllis and Grace; seven grandchildren, Janet, Larry, Linda, Terry, Beverly, Thomas, Charles; three brothers, Carl and Jacob of Adams, and Chris of Charles City, Iowa; many other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers at the funeral at 2 p.m. at St. Olaf Church, Dec. 30, were Clarence Knutson, Orville Knutson, Paul Knutson, Kenneth Drake, Joel Ulven, Earl Weness. Interment was at Oakwood Cemetery with the Rev. Melvin Hauge officiating.
