Nellie Fern Cook 69, of Kopperston departed this life Monday, March 31, 2014, surrounded by her loving family following a short illness. Nellie was a homemaker, a child of God, she enjoyed working in her garden, loved family dinners and get togethers. She was a wonderful wife, mom, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was born on November 27, 1944 in Logan County to the late Hillard Lee Gibson (1924-1996) and Lessie Victoria Osborne-Gibson (1927-1999). In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Bobby "Nelson" Bailey (1941-1985) whom she married on May 18, 1959 in Madison, Boone County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Boone County, WV, 1959, Page 162, Application Date: May 15, 1959); second husband, Calvin Cook (Deceased); a daughter, Ernestine Bailey-Thomas (1960-2010); a grandson, David A. Prince (Deceased); two sisters; five brothers and a great-grandchild.

Those left to cherish her memory are a son, Ralph Bailey & wife Rhonda Bailey of Kopperston; three daughters, Christine Bailey-Prince & husband Michael Prince, Drema Bailey-Kirkendall & husband Rodney Kirkendall, all of Koppertson, and Elestine Bailey-Lusk & fiancé Willy Brown of Van; four sisters, Dovie Sue Gibson-Lycan (1950-2019) & husband Bill Lycan of Amherstdale, Annabell Gibson-Crouse of Wharton, Wilma Lee Gibson-Isom (1959-2016) of Lorado, and Judy Gibson-Nicholas & husband Duke Nicholas of Pondfork; two brothers, David Gibson & wife Ann Gibson of Lorado and Calvin Gibson & wife Arminda Gibson of Cyclone; twelve grandchildren, Tina Harvey, Adam Thomas, Wonda Tabler, Stephanie Bailey, Priscilla Gibson, Christy Kinser, Matthew, Shane, Dale and Noah Kirdendall, and John and Britney Workman; sixteen great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

A celebration of Nellie's life will be 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2014, at Adam Toler Memorial Chapel with Rev. Scotty Elwick and Rev. Ronnie Gibson officiating. Nellie will be laid to rest in Brown Cemetery, Cyclone.
