Warren G. Campbell was born on Nov. 25, 1922 in Gowensville, SC. He left Gowensville at an early age and swore never to return. He kept his promise until very late in his life. At which time, he traveled back to see his brother Harold. He never returned again. However, he did travel back from time to time in the 1950's to visit Fred Owens and family.
Warren joined the Army in the 1940's and served overseas in the post war era in Nice France. He returned and was assigned Funeral Duty in Fort Drum New York. He was an Airborne Paratrooper assigned to several units in the 82nd at Fort Bragg, NC. He jumped over 1500 times to include 2 combat jumps during the Korean Conflict. He retired after 22 years of service at the rank of MSgt E-7.
Warren married Dorothy Margaret Hare from Leicester England in 1949 in Bennetsville SC. Their first child, Tommy, was born in May of the following year. Afterwards they were to have 5 more children, those were: Frances (deceased), Terry, Nancy, Lynda and Jimmy.
Warren provided for his family until they left to achieve varying levels of success for themselves.
Warren died peacefully on Aug 5 2013 at the North Carolina State Veterans Home in Fayetteville, NC.
