On Tuesday afternoon, this frontier town turned out to pay a last tribute to Mrs. Andrew Baxter, a pioneer who died last Sunday morning. Her husband, Andrew Baxter, predeceased her by 26 years and at her death she was in her 89th year. Two brothers remain: Dr J. G. Baird, Riverside, California, Robert Baird, Ottawa and a sister, Mrs. Robert Baxter (should read Walker), Santa Paula, California. The service was conducted by the Rev. E. F. Montour, B.A., B.D. at the Desert United Church and concluded at the McArthur cemetery. The pall bearers were Joseph Poirier, Albert McLelland, Jospeh McPaul, Harry Blaney, James Donovan, Arthur McNully.
