Odelia M. Klapperich, age 92, of Wabasha, formerly of the Adams, Minn., area, died early Saturday, Dec. 17, 2005, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.
She was born Sept. 3, 1913, in Nevada Township of Mower County, near Adams, the daughter of Nicholas and Gertrude (Simon) Ulwelling. She grew up in Johnsburg and attended school there.
She married Herman Klapperich Oct. 16, 1946, at St. John's Catholic Church in Johnsburg. She was a homemaker, and her husband worked in Adams as a blacksmith. Herman died Oct. 18, 1998.
She was a former member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Adams. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening and taking care of her yard.
Odelia is survived by sons and daughter-in-law: Steven Klapperich, recently of Hayden, Colo., formerly of Kellogg, Minn.; Mark and Chris Klapperich, Hayden, Colo.; daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Thomas Micka, Anoka, Minn.; eight grandchildren: Douglas (Jennifer) Klapperich; Amy (Dave) Edelbach; Katie (Thad) Koppenhafer; Anna (Bill) Bennett; Levi Klapperich; Katy, Joe and Libby Micka; four great-grandchildren: Zayne and Ellen Koppenhafer, Christina Edelbach, and Jillian Bennett; sister, Helen Reinhartz, Austin, Minn.; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; one sister, Hedwig Ulwelling; and one brother, Aloysius Ulwelling.
A memorial Mass will be held today at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Adams with the Reverend James Seitz officiating. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Honorary bearers will be her grandchildren. Friends may call one hour before the service at the church. The Abbott Funeral Home of Wabasha is in charge of arrangements.
