William Henry was the son of George Clinton Graves & Charlotte Sprinkle.
Note that there are two death records for William: NC and AL. Presumably this is because he died in NC and was buried in AL. Interestingly, the NC record shows he was born in Knoxville, TN, while the AL record shows he was born in Wytheville, VA. Census records also vary as to his state of birth.
According to Find A Grave contributor TMcP, William married (1) Mary Dorcas Hankins. They married 21 Dec 1859, Greenwood, Surry Co., VA. She died in 1862.
William married (2) Florida Whiting, 27 Oct 1868, Birmingham, Jefferson Co., AL.
William & Florida had three daughters: Elizabeth Eleanor "Ellie" (Matthews); Mary Virginia (Gunster); & F. W.
He was a Captain in the Alabama Cavalry during the Civil War.
