This country was called the Golden Corner when it was the Pendleton District, with the Cherokee Settlements in the 1700's.
His burial place is not known for certain in South Carolina, but he was living around the Pendleton District in the US census records in Abbeville County, South Carolina which is just south of Anderson County on the Savannah River. His son, Archibald T. Mauldin Jr. is buried in Smyrna Cemetery in Abbeville County so it's possible Archibald Sr. is buried there as well.
Pendleton District existed from 07 Mar 1789 to the 20 Dec 1826.
Anderson county, Oconee county, and Pickens county are now what used to be Pendleton District South Carolina.
