Suggested edit: Funeral of Thos. E. Hughes.
The funeral ceremonies of Thos. E. Hughes took place at the home of the deceased yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Rev. Chas. Ferguson read the burial service.
There was an unusually large number present. It was remarked by many that the face of the deceased wore a most peaceful, restful and satisfied expression, not a lineament which indicated pain, suffering or terror all evidenced peace.
The remains were escorted to the grave by the militia, fire brigade, Arizona Pioneers and Junior Pioneers. The soldiers' burial salute was fired. The family feel the bereavement most keenly.
It is their first experience in the loss of one of their number, cut off in full manhood. In their deep suffering and sorrow the family will have the sincere sympathy of their friends in Tucson and the territory at large.
The pall bearers were: John Etchells, Stanley Kitt, John T. Hughes, Garfield Drake, Thomas Hughes, Ed Heaton and Jos. Barnels.
