His birth information was taken from his draft registration record, as abstracted by the LDS Church. The abstract of the record of his marriage to Mary Elizabeth Pattee, at Bozeman, Gallatin Co., Mont., also gives an estimated y.o.b. of 1875. [The marriage abstract gives her surname as Patter; other sources concur with the spelling Pattee.] No record of his death or burial had been located as of 3 April 2014.

Mary Elizabeth's Memorial showed [3 April 2014] her spouse as William David Nash. This assumption was presumably made based on the presence of both names on a shared gravestone. William David Nash is their son, their firstborn of ten named in the 1920 Census. His identification is confirmed by the 1910 Census listing of the household of Joseph P. Nash and Mary E. Nash in School District 19 of Gallatin County, Montana. William was shown as age 6 on the 1920 census; Mary, as age 5. This Mary E. Nash is the same person her Memorial shows linked as spouse to the person who is her son William.

Joseph P[atrick] Nash and Mary E. Patter [surname sic; Pattee] were married on 27 Nov. 1902 at Bozeman [LDS Church marriage abstracts, 1865-1950]. Their daughter, Mary Agnes, who married Arthur Widfield Hazen, was their second child; William David of the gravestone inscription was their firstborn. [Same 1910 Census]
