Jim Cook was born in Cass County, but grew up south of Ord in Valley County, NE. He was the 4th son of Jacob and Mary Cook. He married Ella Viva Jameson 08-11-1903 and to this union five children were born. Victor, Ivan, Elroy, Helen and Howard. He was a farmer and loved his family dearly.
