Arlene Coleman-Benham of Blaine died Saturday, April 6, 2013 at the age of 88. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10 at Moles Greenacres Farewell Tributes 5700 Northwest Dr. in Ferndale.

Born September 10, 1924 to Bryden and Rose McGrath of Nooksack, Arlene was a life-long Whatcom County resident. She graduated from Bellingham High School in 1942 and St. Joseph School of Nursing in 1947, then worked as a public health nurse and Lummi Indian Health Services nurse until her retirement in 1988.

Arlene married Selden Coleman in 1950 and Melvin Benham in 2001. She enjoyed extensive travel, camping and fishing, dancing, card and board games, and attending church.

She is survived by husband Mel Benham, son James Coleman of Ferndale, daughter Kathleen Hamill of Red Bluff, CA, her precious grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and their families.

Memorials may be made to the Ferndale Senior Center or Whatcom Hospice.
