Thirty years of active teaching in the public schools of the District will end tomorrow for Mrs. A.L. As Miss Doyle, the retiring teacher was first appointed to the service February 1, 1884, when she became a teacher in the Amidon School, Sixth and F streets southwest. In 1888 she was promoted to the Smallwood School where she remained until her marriage when she resigned from the service. Ten years later, however, Mrs. Martin passed a competitive examination for reappointment and she was assigned to the Van Buren School. Mrs. Martin is a sister of Capt. Robert E. Doyle of the eighth police precinct.
