Obituary for James Tennyson

James Robert Tennyson was born in Middlesboro, Kentucky on October 5, 1945. He was one of five children born from the union of the late Roy Lee Tennyson Sr. and Juanita (Justice) Tennyson. He moved to Dundee as a boy and attended Dundee Schools graduating in 1963.

He married the love of his life, the former Linda Sachs, on November 17, 1973 at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church in Monroe. From this union came six children. Bob loved his family. He was often accompanied by his bride and he faithfully attended all of his children's and grandchildren's events. For many years he coached baseball. Bob had a great sense of humor, and he especially enjoyed hunting, fishing and sports.

Bob received spiritual nourishment from Monroe Missionary Baptist Church. He was a hard worker, and an excellent provider; supporting his family as a delivery driver for Schultz Bottle Gas from 1992-2007. He had also served as a childcare worker and fire and safety officer for the Ypsilanti State Hospital.

James Robert Tennyson, age 68 of Milan, passed away Monday, March 31, 2014 at home with his loving family by his side. His passing was preceded by his parents.

To cherish his memory Bob leaves his wife of forty years: Linda of Milan; six children: Kim Beasley-Hardrick (Phil) of Monroe, Steve (Britt) Tennyson of Ann Arbor, Dawn Rumler of Monroe, Todd (Christina) Tennyson of Howell, Tanya (Thomas) Roberts of Canton, and Aaron (Amanda) Tennyson of Monroe; four siblings: Joan (Burton) Spaulding and Roy (Mary) Tennyson Jr. both of Dundee, Don (Rose) Tennyson of Monroe, and Wanda (Willard) Butler of Tennessee; ten grandchildren: Jared, Bailey, Brock, Lexi, Braylin, Zain, Beau, Elizabeth, Jordan and Ashley; two great grandchildren: Luna and Aurora.

Friends may gather from 2:00-8:00pm on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Merkle Funeral Service, South Monroe, 14567 South Dixie Highway, Monroe (734) 241-7070 (formerly Bennett Funeral Services). He will Lie In State from 10:00am until a Celebration of His Life at 11:00am, Friday, April 4, 2014 at Monroe Missionary Baptist Church, 14260 South Dixie Highway. Reverend Roy Southerland will officiate. Procession will follow to Roselawn Memorial Park will follow.
