Casualty of the Great War,Sidney served with the 53rd Bn.
Australian Infantry, A.I.F. Service No:4903. He was 23.

His brother, Private Albert "Bert" Clive Bromley also fell on the same day in the same battle.

An eye witness account of the death of Sidney states that Sid went to pick up his fallen brother, Bert and was killed by machine gun fire.Sidney's body was recovered at the time of, or just after the battle. Albert was buried by the Germans in the mass grave Pheasant Wood and only identified by DNA in April 2011

"ROLL OF HONOUR
BROMLEY.-Killed in action at Fleurbaix, previously reported missing S. R. (Sid) aged 24 years and 11 months, and A. C. (Bert), aged 19 1/2 years, much
loved sons of S. de Montford and Alice Bromley, and grandsons of the late Dr. Joschia Bromley, and great grandsons of the late Duke of Sussex."
