Janet Marlene Larsen , 70, Cherokee, passed away at the Cherokee Villa Nursing & Rehab Center on Monday morning, March 31, 2014 following a six month battle with cancer.

Memorial services will be held Friday, April 4th, at 11 a.m. at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Jean Morse will officiate. Visitation will be on Thursday from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee with the family present from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City, Iowa at a later date. Janet was born on June 18, 1943 to Paul John Oscar and Marguerite (Bruce) Lindgren at Cherokee, Iowa. The family lived south of Cleghorn. She attended Cleghorn Schools and graduated from Cherokee Schools in l961. She attended NBT and worked briefly at Security National Bank in Sioux City. She married Eddie Beck, Jr. on June 2, 1963 in Cherokee Iowa and lived in rural Sutherland. She later moved to Cherokee and worked briefly in the office at Lundell Mfg. She then worked at Sioux Valley Hospital and retired after 40 years of service in 2010.

Janet married Evert Larsen, Jr. in Cherokee on September 20, 1975.

Janet was a lifetime member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee. Growing up she was active in 4-H, played the clarinet and enjoyed reading and listening to music. Janet was an avid Hawkeye fan, enjoyed her grandchildren, sewing, playing the piano and cards, bowling and going to the casino for fun.

She was preceded in death by her father, paternal grandparents, Oscar and Hilma Lindgren and maternal grandparents, Earl and Ethel Bruce.

She is survived by her husband, Evert (Junior) of 39 years, one son Paul Larsen of Cherokee and his children Kelsey, Trenton and Brett Larsen; 4 step-children; Tim (Lynette Neitzel) of Belleville, Wisc, and his children Owen and Eric Larsen; Todd (Tina) Larsen of Cherokee, Iowa and their children Tasha & Trevor Larsen; Tyler (Deb) Larsen of Sumner, Iowa and their children Allie, Megan and Zach Larsen, Tammy (Mark) Grace of Early, Iowa and their children Travis & Brooke Hoeppner; her mother, Marguerite Osterling of Cherokee and Siblings; Anita (Larry) Tuttle of Spirit Lake and Elaine French of Sutherland and many nieces and nephews.
