Great-grandson of a Mississippi Methodist preacher who founded Hopewell Methodist Church (Jasper Co MS), Mike was named for Revs Lambuth and Graves, two greatly admired Methodist preachers. Mike's family moved with his father, W.T. Fowler, and uncles to Sudan, Lamb County, TX around 1910.

Mike founded Fowler Mfg Co in Lubbock TX, and held farm machinery patents. Among other things he designed and produced the Fowler Wagon Hand in 1960, a new cotton stripper, and worked to design an innovative eight-row cotton stripper that is thought to be the basis for production models today.
