Our loving mother, grandma, great-grandma, and sister passed away April 9, 2003 at age 91 of natural causes in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Elva was born September 13, 1911 in Bingham Canyon, Utah to Walter and Doretta Hudson Birk and married Lawrence Wesley Cooper October 18, 1934 in Preston, Idaho. She was a resident of Bingham Canyon, Smithfield and Salt Lake City and attended schools in Bingham Canyon and Smithfield. She was a member of the Women's Utah Motor Transport Association, Chi Omega Mothers and the LDS Church.
Elva was a generous and kind person who was always helping and giving to family and friends. She enjoyed people and was always interested in the activities of her large extended family. Her strength was her ability to love and care for others.
She is survived by two daughters, Joan Cooper Brown, Denver, CO, Ann Cooper Wilson, Holladay, UT; brother, Harold Birk Gardiner, Salt Lake City and half sister, Bonnie (Robert) Kelstrom, Roy; four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, five brothers, one half brother, one sister and one half sister.
The family wishes to express their appreciation for the loving care given to our mother for the past two years by the staff at Highland Cove Health Care Center.
Elva gave her family a legacy of devotion, love, determination and a great work ethic.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 16th, 2003 at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Dr. at 12:00 p.m. (noon). Friends may call one hour prior to services. Interment at American Fork Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the charity of their choice.
