Rose Victoria Glichowski James died on January 29, 2019, at the age of 96, just days shy of her birthday.
Rose spent the first half of her life in Buffalo, NY and met her husband Clarence “Jim” while working for the Dept. of the Navy in Washington, DC. They moved to Atlanta in 1954 for her late husband’s job as a flight test engineer at Lockheed. Rose was an accomplished artist, and a woman ahead of her time. She was the first woman to receive a Master’s degree in Sculpture from Georgia State, later owning her own art studio and gallery in Underground Atlanta and King Plow. She had exhibits at the Georgia High Museum of Art and New York City. She is survived by her five children, Robert James (Judy) of Cumming, Ga.; Sandra (James) Aubitz of Bloomington, Minn.; David James; Marilu (James) Thomas (Stuart) of Palmyra, Va.; and Kevin James of Sandy Springs, Ga. Her seven grandchildren include Brian Aubitz (Ann) of Bloomington, Minn.; Scott Aubitz (Sara) of Edina, Minn.; Courtney (James) Blackston (Jeremy) of Sugar Hill, Ga.; Kristin (Thomas) Sancken (Caleb) of Charlottesville, Va.; Matthew "Matt" James (Aleah) of Woodstock, Ga.; Nathan James; Carolyn “Callie” Thomas of Denver, Colo. and Chase James. Her eleven great-grandchildren include Christopher Aubitz, Mitchell Aubitz, Ashley Aubitz, Katlyn Aubitz, Charles Aubitz, Daniel Aubitz, Lilyan Blackston, Eli Blackson, Lucy Sancken, Annabel Sancken, and Hallie Raye James.

The reviewal will be Thursday, Jan 31, 7 - 10 p.m., Sandy Springs Chapel, 136 Mt Vernon Hwy., Sandy Springs, Ga. The funeral mass will be said at St. Jude's Catholic Church, 7171 Glenridge Dr., Sandy Springs, Ga., on Friday, February 1, at noon. Internment at Arlington Memorial Park.
