On leaving school he became a press agent before WW2.

His aircraft was involved in a mid-air collision over the island of Als, Denmark on 28th/29th January 1944 when his aircraft had major problems and decided to turn back for England striking Lancaster JA-967, 83 Squadron Pathfinders in the process.
