A memorial service for Sandy Burkett, 57, of Tyler, will be held on Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009, at 10 a.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Richard Luna officiating. A private family burial will take place prior to the service.
Mrs. Burkett passed away Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, at Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler.
She was born Jan. 20, 1952, in Tyler to the late James and Ruth Carroll Allen.
Mrs. Burkett was raised in Tyler and was a lifelong resident. She was a graduate of John Tyler High School and attended Tyler Junior College. Sandy worked as an escrow officer at Landmark Title Co. for six years. She enjoyed reading and arts and crafts. She was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church and the Tyler Aggie Moms Club. Most of all, Sandy loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Sandy is survived by her loving family including her husband of 35 years, Gary Burkett of Tyler; sons, Nick Burkett and wife Sarah of Tyler and Casey Burkett of Dallas; sister, Carolyn Woodson of Jacksonville; and granddaughter, Claire Burkett of Tyler.
Honorary pallbearers will be Todd Woodson, Matt Woodson, Ricky Clements and Clint Clements.
