John died young of an aneurysm. He left a wife and eight children. For awhile his wife had to put seven of her children in the Sisters of St. Joseph Boys and Girls Orphanages until she could figure out a financial plan for bringing them home. John was a lens grinder/optician.
Catherine buried him in her parents' plot in Section J at Holy Sepulchre. There are no gravestones on any of the Birmingham graves. The plot extends from the stone in lower left corner to the flat stone, John’s, even with the tree.
