Jerry A. Jacobs, 56, of Sioux Falls, died Sunday, March 23 at his Home in Sioux Falls.

Visitation will be 5:00 – 6:00pm, Sunday, March 30, 2014 at Feigum Funeral Home, concluding with a Prayer Service at 6:00pm. Funeral Services will be at 1:00pm, Monday, March 31, 2014 at Lutheran Memorial Church with interment following at Scotty Philip Cemetery.

Jerry was born in Pierre on January 16, 1958. As a young boy Jerry along with his mother, younger brother Sam and little sister Sherrie lived with his Grandpa Sam. His grandpa was a major influence in his life. His mother met and married Frank Iversen in Wendte. Jerry grew up in rural Stanley County where he attended Wendte country school. He spent most of his time outdoors riding, hunting and helping out on the ranch. During his high school summers he worked as a cowboy for Bad River Cattle Company and Korkow Rodeo. This helped to cement his love for bull riding.

Jerry graduated from Stanley County High School in 1977. Then he moved to Idaho where he became a certified welder while working for Hood Pipeline Company. Jerry joined the Army in 1979. While enlisted he spent 2 tours of duty in South Korea. He talked about the time he spent the night on the Han River in the DMZ sleeping in a boat. In 1984 he was discharged from the Army.

When Jerry moved back to the Pierre Area he took up welding again. He worked various jobs including working for a while at Century Manufacturing. In 1997 Jerry moved to Sioux Falls where he lived and worked until his death.

Jerry is survived by his children: Yvonne, Cody and Logan, his granddaughters: Jersey, Jade and Lanny, parents: Pat and Frank, brothers: Sam (Diane) and Dana (Annis), sisters: Sherrie (Doug), Diane and Dawn, nieces: Sierra, Megan, Abby and Jennifer, nephews: Frank, Justin, Soren, Sam Jr., Dale and Mike, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
