Steven "Byrd" Simpson 57, of Ten Mile, TN passed away at 2:45am Thursday, March 27, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his family. Steven was born February 22, 1957 in Kokomo to the late Ivan F. and Janet J. Simpson. His marriage to the former Lori A. Bass was on September 11, 1993 in Kokomo. Steven was in the U.S. Navy. He worked at Chrysler for 30 years as a job setter. He loved riding motorcycles and was a retired member of the Milwaukee Iron Motorcycle Club. Steven also loved fishing, boating, and generally all out doors activities. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife Lori A. Simpson, a step-son Brandon L. Bass, two daughters Shelly R. Chorrushi (John) and Lindsay C. Simpson, two sisters Michele Minniear (Bill), Candy Hall (Bob), three grandsons, Justin and Austin Chorrushi and Izaiah Simpson, one great-granddaughter Allianah Chorrushi, along with several nieces and nephews.
Steven was preceded in death by his parents Ivan F. and Janet J. Simpson, and a sister Sharon Hughes.
Visitation will be from 4pm – 8pm Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 South Webster Street. Services will be at 1:00pm on Thursday, April 3, 2014 also at the mortuary with Pastor Gary Foster officiating. Burial will be in Crown Point Cemetery. There will be full military honors provided by the U.S. Navy and the Kokomo Military Rites team. Memorials in memory of Steven "Byrd" Simpson may be made to the American Cancer Society.
