On March 27, 2014 Kay Small Ward, beloved wife of the late Ural Thomas "Tom" Ward; devoted mother of Mark Ward and his wife Maggie and David Ward and his wife Kammie; dear grandmother of Alexandra Mae Ward; loving companion of Dannie Dove. Kay was born and raised in Hanover, relocating to the Washington, DC area in 1957 to work at Walter Reed Army Medical Center after training as a medical transcriptionist. She then worked for Congressman Olin "Tiger" Teague on Capitol Hill, where she met her future husband Tom. Kay also worked for a public relation firms and volunteered for several causes. Kay and Tom raised their children Mark and David in Laurel, Maryland, where Kay made her home for the last 48 years in a community filled with life-long friends. After the loss of her husband to cancer in 1995, she developed a beautiful relationship with her loving companion Dannie Dove. Dannie quickly became a cherished member of the Ward family.
The family will celebrate Kay's life on Wednesday 7 p.m. Graveside service at Rest Haven Cemetery.
