Phyllis I. O'Brien, 84, of Salina, passed away Friday, March 28, 2014. She was born Oct. 26, 1929, the daughter of Hugh Laverne Modlin and Ethel (Loomis) Modlin. Phyllis was a retired bank teller in Salina.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Carrol Garst; brother, Douglas Modlin; and her husband, Marvin Briggs.
Phyllis is survived by one daughter, Pamela (John) Peck, of Salina; two brothers, Fred (Joyce) Modlin, of Inman, and Curtis (Marilyn) Modlin, of Runge, Texas; sister, Letha (James) Garst, of Mankato; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren (with one on the way).
Cremation was selected. Memorial services Friday, April 4, at Scandia United Methodist Church, Scandia. Inurnment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Scandia. Visitation Thursday, April 3, at Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Scandia, and Friday at the church.
