Pearl Wood Greebon passed into the arms of her loving Father on November 3, 2012 at the age of 99 years 27 days. She was born October 7, 1913 in the Adrian Conn house. She was preceded in death by her parents Bernhard and Emma Olfers, her seven siblings, her in-laws Frank and Ethel Wood, her two husbands, J.C. Wood and Glen Greebon, her son, James E. Wood, her grandson, Chris Norris, 2 daughters-in-law, 2 sons-in-law and many friends and relatives.
She is survived by her children, Mary Ann Steigleder of San Antonio, Ben Wood of California, John and Bonnie Wood of Blanco, Gary Wood of Blanco, her daughter-in-law, Pat Wood of Blanco and 2 sisters in law, Willie Olfers of Blanco and Elenora Brooks of San Antonio.
She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren the Greebon family, Jean Greebon and her family, Keith and Betty Greebon and family, and Joellen and Morrie Stern and family, Many close friends and other family members.
She was a lifetime member of Blanco United Methodist Church holding many offices in the church. At one time, as a child of 10, she kept the church clean and was paid $5 a month, but soon said that she thought she deserved a raise. She was rewarded with an increase to $10 a month.
She attended Blanco school and graduated in 1930 at the age of 16.
She held numerous jobs in the Blanco area, as a waitress at several of the restaurants, a job she loved because of the traveling people, at Singleton's factory making supplies for the gingham mills, at the Red and White Store in the basement and one of her favorite and last jobs, working for Philip and Francis Strickland at Strickland Drugs for many years. When she left Strickland to marry Glen Greebon they lived for a short time in Austin and then bought the present home in Blanco. She and Glen traveled extensively, enjoyed friends and family playing dominoes and visiting. Mr. Glen died in 2000 and she continued going to church and visiting and having both families for visits and Christmas and other holidays.
She and Willie Olfers enjoyed meeting friends at the Bowling Alley Café on Fridays for fish and at the Dairy Queen on Wednesdays for the senior discount burgers. She and Willie enjoyed many times together and we thank Willie for her dedication.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Monday, November 5 at Crofts Funeral Home, Blanco. The funeral will be 10:00 am Tuesday, November 6 at Blanco United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Blanco Cemetery.
