Jennifer Lynn Reeder Adams

Jennifer Lynn Reeder Adams, 69, a resident of Dothan passed away Monday, March 31, 2014 at a local hospital.

Funeral services will be 2pm Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Dothan First Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Gross, Rev. Mike Golson and Dr. Jesse Reeder officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2pm prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. Adams was born December 1, 1944 in Guntersville, AL and spent the early part of her life there. She was a graduate of Guntersville High School. She attended Judson College and graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Education. She later attended Troy University where she received a AA Masters in Education Administration. Most of her career was spent teaching at Slocomb High School. She also taught at Wallace College and Troy University retiring in 2001. Later she taught at Early County High School until retiring again in 2006. Mrs. Adams was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority where she served as newsletter editor, a member of the Alabama Retired Teachers Association, and a member of the AEA in which she served as vice president. She was an active member of Dothan First Baptist Church where she was very involved with E3 and First Baptist Missions.

Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her parents Watson and Jewel Hooper.

Survivors include her husband, Bruce Adams of Dothan, AL; her sons, Jesse Allen (Michelle) Reeder of Moulton, AL, Melvin Brady (Laura) Reeder of Slocomb, AL; her daughter, Carrie Reeder (William) Davis of Helena, AL; her brother, John Allen Hooper; 9 grandchildren, Drake, Logan, Keeli, Marissa, Mason, Charli, Antonio, Anna and Andrew; several nieces and nephews.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Danny Hicks, Kyle Hand, Brad Reeder, Kyle Reeder, Chris Reeder, Don McMullan, John Paul Jones and Adrian Thomas.

Robert Byrd of Sunset Funeral Home, (334) 983-6604, is in charge of arrangements.
