Jeremiah was the son of Martin & Mary Higgins Constantine. He married Louise Little, the daughter of James & Winifred O'Dowd Constantine, on July 16, 1888 in Warsaw, Kentucky. The couple were the parents of William Abbett Constantine and Winifred Constantine Naive.

Mr. Constantine worked for the Louisville & Nashville Railroad Company, as the station agent, at Sparta, Kentucky. He then became the proprietor of a hotel, in the same town. Jeremiah was a skilled telegrapher. In 1894, while working as Congressman Albert S. Berry's private secretary, he was appointed as the chief telegraph operator for the National House of Representatives. Mr. Constantine passed away from the effects of pneumonia, complicated by congestive heart failure.
