Jeffrey Wade Coats, 65, of Athens died Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at the Athens-Limestone Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Spry Funeral Home with burial in Limestone Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Coats was born August 27, 1948, in Limestone County. He was a member of the Baptist Church, a disabled Vietnam U.S. Marines veteran and retired from Solutia in Decatur.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy Coats; a son, Neal Coats; five daughters, Lorraine Coats Wise, Stephanie Coats, Carmen Harvey, Tansey Tinery and Deda Graham; a brother, Kenneth Coats; two sisters, Lenora Bolton and Dorothy Davis; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie B. and Mamie Mae Adams; a son, Wade Coats Jr.; and two brothers, Fred Vernon Coats and Sgt. 1st Class Jessie Coats Jr.
