SYLVESTER, Ga. - Funeral services for John E. Houston, Jr., 70, of Sylvester, who died Sunday at the Worth County Hospital after an extended illness, were to be conducted today at 3 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Sylvester by the Revs. John Tucker and Quinton Barnes. Interment was in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Mr. Houston was a lifelong resident of Worth County, the son of the late John Edward and Rauzie Moree Houston. He was a retired barber and a member of the First Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of Brownlee Post 113, American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Janie Ledia Mims. Houston, Sylvester; three sons, John Edward Houston, III, James W. and George Ray Houston, all of Sylvester; four sisters, Mrs. Nellie Powell, Mrs. John E. Bass, Mrs. W. J. Crowe and Mrs. I. H. Moree, all of Sylvester, and two grandchildren, Keith Edward and Deborah Ann Houston, both of Sylvester.
