On January 28, 1940, in New Orleans, LA, Marjorie Wells was born, the daughter of the late Bourbon Nelson Wells, Sr. and Julia Ford Wells. She confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized by Rev. Nathaniel A. Smith, Plymouth Rock Baptist Church, where she served as a faithful member. Marjorie later became a member of New Zion Travelers First Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. C.E. Gomez until her death. She was educated in the New Orleans Public School System.

On Saturday, January 21, 1989 at 3:00 p.m., the angel of death gently relieved Marjorie Wells Croffitt of life's pain and suffering and made her God's own. She had borne her quota of burdens and carried her quota of crosses and is now safely cradled in the arms of her maker.

Marjorie dedicated her life to helping others. Her down to earth demeanor, winning attitude and lovable personality will be with us forever. The more she shared the more she was blessed for her unselfish deeds. Her favorite time of year was during the holiday seasons as she burst with energy and pride to decorate or just prepare a feast for any and all to enjoy. Those are simple things which made Marjorie smile.

Mrs. Croffitt is survied by a devoted husband of thirty years Douglas Croffitt, three sons, Darren Anthony, Wayne Todd and Douglas Nelson Croffitt, a daughter Jeanine Croffitt Feltus. She is also survived by two sisters Lucille Wells Lewis and Jacqueline Wells Myers, and a brother Bourbon Nelson Wells, Jr., three grand-children and a devoted friend Diane Mack.
