She was the daughter of the late, Grover C. and Flossie (Loope) Backus.
She married James C. LaClair. He died in 1981. She worked for 20+ years for the St. Lawrence County Clerk's Office as a recorder.
She was survived by two sons, James C. LaClair Jr and wife Laurie of Dallas, TX and Daniel L. LaClair and wife Mary of Austin, TX; two daughters, Donna Ferguson and husband Eardley of Lowville and Jackie A. Hebert of Sacramento, CA; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and a sister-in-law, Margaret Barbour.
She was predeceased by four brothers, Fred, Ned, Neil and Grover Backus; and by seven sisters, Blanche, Clara, Nina, Bessie, Florence, Jennie and Inez.
