Mr. Peyton, 95, was a life time resident of Sac County. He died at Loring Hospital Sunday, September 16, following a brief illness.
He was born in Wall Lake Township July 13, 1878 to Micajah and Zerelda Peyton, one of nine children. Fred married Lorena Mae Barnhill in Sac City November 29, 1900 and their marriage was blessed with three children. Mr. and Mrs. Peyton celebrated their 60th anniversary before her death in 1961. They had retired from their farm south of Sac City and moved into Sac City in 1943.
Mr. Peyton had a very active interest in farming, baseball and horses throughout his lifetime. He was made a member of the Little League Hall of Fame in Sac City. He was a member of the First Christian Church.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Hazel Evans of Mesa, Ariz.; sons, Leslie of Lake View and Clarence of Lytton. He is also survived by a brother Dolph of Sac City; six grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
Funeral attendants were Roland Peyton, A.M. Peyton, Orville Russell, James Monkelein, Paul Peyton and Elsa McDonald. Burial was in Ferguson Cemetery, Lake View.
Roxanne Marsh was soloist, accompanied by Mrs. John J. Irwin. Mrs. Flossie Bright, Ethel Mandernach and Marjo Florist cared for floral tributes.
